About Our Chapter
Founded on January 29, 1995, IFMA East Tennessee's mission is to advance the profession of Facilities Management and to support the professional growth and development of facilities managers in the East Tennessee area. The chapter accomplishes this mission for its members by:
- Providing programs that advance our members' professional education
- Creating networking and information sharing opportunities
- Fostering the attainment of CFM designation
- Acting as an information resource
- Promoting synergy between professional and associate members
- Recognizing members' achievements in the field and championing initiatives that make our members better corporate citizens (e.g., sustainability and community service initiatives.)
Our Mission Statement
IFMA East Tennessee is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the continued growth of our membership through education, networking, certification, and the promotion of facilities management as a profession.
About IFMA
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is the premier professional association for facility management. Representing the largest community of FM professionals on the planet, IFMA membership comprises more than 19,000 facility professionals throughout 54 countries. Our members have a voice in 129 chapters and 13 councils.
IFMA was established in 1980 as a not-for-profit, incorporated association dedicated to promoting excellence in the management of facilities. Globally, IFMA spots trends, conducts research, provides educational programs, and assists corporate and organizational facility managers in developing strategies to manage human, facility and real estate resources.
The average IFMA member is responsible for 500,000 square feet of property, of which ¾ is usually office space. More than half of the members manage facilities with with more than 1,000 employees. The vast majority of IFMA members serve multi-function roles for their employers. These roles may include, but are not limited to the following:

- Design Services
